Richard H. "Dick" Swanson, age 78 of Hampton, passed away at his home on Friday, January 5, 2024 after lengthy illnesses.
Dick was born on October 8, 1945 to Henry and Mildred Swanson. He grew up in South St. Paul and after graduation from South St. Paul High School, Dick joined the US Air Force and served four years. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to work for Cenex for 30 years.
He married Kathleen Mahoney on October 17, 1975. They built their home in Hampton Township in 1979.
Dick loved his family, friends, and dogs. He also loved his John Deere tractor, Hammond organs, and baby grand piano.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathleen; sons, Mike and Rob; grandchildren, Ripley, Avery, and Brooklyn; brother, Dave (Linda); sister, Joanne Boyle; sister-in-law, Judy Swanson; and special friends, Dick Weldon and Doug Staehnke.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, "Mil" and Swany"; brother, Don; and brother-in-law, Bernie Boyle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 am, with visitation from 10-11:00 am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Swanson, Andy, Paul, Jim, and Peter Benjamin, and Brody Holter.
